German unemployment rose less than expected in September, Labour Office figures showed on Friday.

The Federal Labour Office said the number of people out of work increased by 10,000 in seasonally adjusted terms to 2.642 million. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected that figure to rise by 15,000.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate remained stable at 5.7%.

In non-seasonally adjusted terms, the number of people out of work fell by 69,000 to 2.627 million.

“Unemployment and underemployment are decreasing, but less than usual in September,” said Daniel Terzenbach, of the Federal Labour Office.

However, the German labour market is still stable, he noted.
