Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has carried out the first major upgrade on its Model 3 electric vehicles, tipped to offer a longer range through better aerodynamics.
According to the company, the cheapest updated model now boasts a range of 554 kilometres (344.2 miles), stretching to 679 kilometres for the four-wheel drive version.
This marks increases in the car’s range of up to 8%, thanks to a fresh bonnet design and better aero features, including new wheels.

Tesla has also upgraded the cars interior, the company said, including with better quality materials and upgraded speakers.
“This update brings more refinement, comfort and ‘premiumness’ – inside and out — while staying true to its sleek, uncluttered design aesthetic,” Tesla said.
“We have not departed from what made Model 3 a global best-seller: delivering great range and efficiency with sports-car performance and handling at an approachable price point.”
