At 07:20GMT, FTSE 100 futures are trading lower by 0.15% at 7354.5.

In FX markets, GBP/USD is trading at 1.3470, EUR/GBP is trading at 0.8401. The US Dollar Index is up 0.2%.

Today’s calendar highlights include Spanish CPI, US Jobless Claims, Chicago PMI, Natural Gas Storage.

Coronavirus
The UK reported record daily COVID case numbers of 183,000 on Wednesday. A total of 10,462 people were in hospital in England with COVID, up 48% from a week ago.

Stocks
Harbour Energy (LON:HBR) – Completed the drilling of the Dunnottar exploration well (30/8-4) in licence P2399 in the North Sea. The well reached a total measured depth of 15,639 feet encountering hydrocarbon-bearing intervals in the Palaeocene, Jurassic and Triassic. The commerciality of these marginal accumulations will be assessed. In the meantime, the well will be plugged and abandoned.

Ferrexpo (LON:FXPO) – Announced the appointment of Natalie Polischuk as an Independent Non-executive Director to the Group’s Board of Directors.

Atome Energy – Entire issued ordinary share capital will today be admitted to trading on the AIM market of the London Stock Market. The company has been spun-off by AIM-listed President Energy (LON:PPTC) for the purpose of producing, marketing and distributing green hydrogen and ammonia.
