India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.03%

India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Power sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.03% to hit a new 6-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.08%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 4.05% or 35.10 points to trade at 900.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 2.46% or 27.90 points to end at 1160.00 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 2.15% or 28.20 points to 1341.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 3.77% or 7.15 points to trade at 182.70 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 3.58% or 29.15 points to end at 784.50 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was down 3.39% or 6.40 points to 182.60.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 4.07% to 901.60, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 2.40% to settle at 1344.30 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.27% to close at 1158.00.

The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 2.53% to 1225.35 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.98% to settle at 503.70 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.91% to 396.15 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 910 to 692 and 94 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1440 fell and 1117 advanced, while 171 ended unchanged.

Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) rose to all time highs; up 4.05% or 35.10 to 900.90. Shares in Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) rose to all time highs; up 2.46% or 27.90 to 1160.00. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.07% or 35.25 to 901.60. Shares in Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.27% or 25.70 to 1158.00.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.95% to 20.7150.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 2.30 to $1926.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.72% or 0.68 to hit $40.11 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.46% or 0.61 to trade at $42.33 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.09% to 73.294, while EUR/INR fell 0.32% to 86.3885.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 93.205.
